Our client, a privately-owned Food distribution company catering to the foodservice channel in Kenya is urgently seeking to recruit a Supply Chain Officer
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To Ensure the company comply with laws, regulations, and standards in place for shipping and receiving.
  • To Obtain quotes for transportation and making cost comparisons, Negotiate prices and terms with vendors, or freight forwarders.
  • To Prepare, process and/or review purchase requisition/orders as required.
  • To Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, and sales, to keep up to date with product acceptance in market.
  • To Generate and/or review inventory reports
  • To Update sales team on any red flags: slow moving, near expiry, or out of stock products.
  • To Send weekly pipeline to warehouse to prepare themselves before the receipt of any shipment
  • To follow up with suppliers to schedule deliveries, resolve outstanding and overdue delivery of orders, warranty claims and damage and return of materials.
  • To Coordinate and track shipment by pulling and packing of materials and arrange appropriate transportation.
  • To Inform the clearing agent prior to arrival of goods and giving the required information
  • To Issue original documents on time to the clearing agent and adhere to proper documentation
  • To Ensure the company adheres to shipping/receiving and regulatory compliance procedures
  • To Coordinate transport for goods from port to the warehouse and monitoring empty containers drop off.
  • To coordinate with government agencies to have the relevant approvals
  • To ensure all formalities are certified with the government agencies prior to importation
  • To assist in warehousing duties as and when required
  • To keep updating the management monthly on the new regulations, if any
Key Competencies & Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Purchasing and Supplies or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution
  • Must have at least 6 years proven experience in supply chain management
  • Strong skills on clearing and forwarding
  • Strong Negotiation skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong Analytical and presentation skills
  • Team player
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases, ERP
  • Ability to be self-motivated with a positive attitude and a solid work ethic
